They are currently having a sale for their DNA test, instead of $299 they are offering it for $99.
Genetic genealogy and health "likelihoods".

I've never heard of these guys and they claim to be the biggest. How do they compare to familytreedna?

What tests do they do for $99?

As well as doing the same type of test as the FamilyFinder (autosomal - 1million markers tested) they also analyse for health likelihoods. ie some genes do have a link with some conditions and they test for some of these. Note that these are just relative odds and don't mean that people will either get some condition or not get something.

As for making matches with relatives it has been the experience of others that those on 23andMe are less likely to communicate as it seems more people are on that test for the health component while those on FamilyTreeDNA are more likely to respond as they are there purely for genealogy.

23andMe will slug you $75 shipping though (including return) - ouch, rather excessive.

FamilyTreeDNA are also running a sale now too.

I am getting the 23andMe one now to complement my FamilyTree one and to get the health DNA part.

Thanks for the update. I will stick with just familytreedna for now.

I think the only tests I have left will not be necessary unless I get a match with one of my other tests.
