Hi,
I'm currently searching for my donor. I was told when I was 9 that a very special man gave my Mum the gift of life. I have been wanting to search ever since but had no idea where to start. I started looking last year and was put onto a wonderful Proffessor who has been helping me. I have no idea about my donor, other then he is a Doctor in Invercargil New Zealand. My Mother did provide me with some info but I have no idea on how accurate her info is as she has never supported me with this.
I was reffered to this site from a very lovely lady in Australia, that I came across on Circle of moms on Facebook.
Thank you

I met Ken when he gave a talk here in SA. Aus is a small place and NZ even smaller. So hopefully you should be able to make some progress. What sort of information do you have on your donor so far?

Hi Jet,
Welcome to the forum and good luck with your search.
If you are up to the point where you think the donor is a doctor from Invercargill, you could try writing letters to all the doctors there. Another thing you could try is to look at medical student photos at the universities and see if you see one that looks similar to you (this is a long shot).
Cheers, Adam

Hi,
I have no idea if the information my Mum gave me about my donor is correct at all. What she told me is the donor is coded orange, high i.q and a doctor in Invercargil.
When I first contacted the clinic, the lady I spoke to told me that in the whole time she had worked there, she had never heard of "coded orange'. My Mother has never been supportive of me searching.
I sent my letter to the clinic my Mum went to away yesterday. So hopefully I hear back soon.
It would be great to have medical records complete for both myself and my son.
Quinny- I tried googling the university of Otago's year books. I had no luck.
Thank you

Hi Jet
wishing you good luck with your letter to the clinic. Another option in regards to finding names (with no pictures unfortunately) is to look at the graduation lists. This is a publication that the university does on the day of graduation for the families and so forth that attend the graduations. The uni will keep a copy of this in the library. It will probably go by the name of commemoration ceremony or the like. These lists are particularly helpful if you know that your genetic father was a medical student at a particular time.

Hi Jet, In this case, google is not the answer to the year books. As dadams has suggested, see if there is a graduation list from the uni. This is what I did, and because of the records they keep the university also had pictures of the students. So call up the university and see if they have an archive section and if they have a graduation list of medical students for whatever year range you think. Then ask if they have pictures of the students.

I have been incontact with the clinic and found out on Monday that my donor code is number 36, my donor's ethnic background is Anglo Saxon, he helped 6 other families to have children, he has two of his own children, he is 6 foot fair hair/complexion. Im also aware that a donor sibling has previously made contact with the clinic!. The best thing is, the donor is accepting a letter from me!.

I have found a sibling- with help from the wonderful Professor and we are hoping to meet up sometime this year. I sent my letter away to the clinic at the beginning of the year and now I am just waiting to hear back.
